Thorne Insurance has been a family-owned and operated business since 1928 and is currently in the fourth generation of ownership. As an independent insurance agency, our goal is to be the one-stop for all your insurance needs.

Two horses and a buggy
Benjamin H. Thorne (pictured right) founded Thorne Insurance in 1928. At the time, Thorne was quite the mobile agency! Powered by two horses and a humble buggy, Ben initially offered just life insurance but later expanded his product line in the 1940s to include property and casualty lines. He continued to own the agency and write insurance until 1957.
William (Bill) Thorne (pictured right) continued to write life insurance and property and casualty lines. He added the ability to insure commercial lines. Bill owned the agency until 1985 and co-owned it until 2005.
Rex A. Thorne joined the agency in 1985 and expanded its business by offering high-risk auto, health, and crop insurance and bonds. He wrote full-time until 2001 and co-owned the agency until 2004.

Five locations and a full staff
Kevin C. Killen (pictured left) is the fourth generation to join the Thorne Insurance agency legacy in 1999. He started by writing existing lines, became a co-owner in 2004, and then became the sole owner of Thorne Insurance in 2005 through 2019. When Kevin took over, Thorne Insurance only had one location and two employees. Kevin’s vision of expansion led to many additional insurance markets, employees, and locations.
Jason Dawes (pictured left) then joined the agency in May of 2007 on a summer internship. He later became co-owner in January of 2015. Under their combined leadership, Thorne has experienced substantial growth through five agency acquisitions and a growing dedicated staff of employees.
