Thorne Farms LLC received the Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award on March 24th for over 100 years of ownership by the Thorne Family.
The property ownership was traced back to Phoebe Thorne with the original 40 acre homestead purchase on January 22, 1910. Ben Thorne, who founded Thorne Insurance Agency, was the son of Phoebe Thorne. Thorne Insurance was founded on that homestead in 1928. The Thorne Family has been involved with the farming for 113 years and selling insurance for 95 years.
